Compare Golf Balls – Does The Weekend Golfer Need To?

Does the Weekend Golfer Need to Compare Golf Balls?

It goes without saying that the Tour Professional needs to compare golf balls to find the one that is exactly suited to his game. He can use the correct ball to his benefit under any course and weather conditions.

The club golfer plays the game worlds apart from the professional. The question then arises! I wonder of the club golfer is proficient enough to analyse and compare golf balls that will result in their handicap coming down consistently. The honest answer for most weekend golfers is No!

Back to the Tour Professional.New improved golf equipment is marketed year in and year out, with golf balls at the forefront, why then is it that when the world’s best professionals who play the St Andrews course (and others) always seem to finish with more or less the same scores. To advertise and compare golf balls at each major tournament is high on the agenda of each manaufacturer. Manufacturers year after year offer better designed, must have golf balls that will bring your score down rapidly why then do we find that golf tournament winning scores hardly ever change from year to year.

Do we as weekend golfers really need to use a new pro endorsed $4 golf ball every time we step on to the 1st Tee? Think about this?

  • If you need to compare golf balls to play better you will need to understand the attributes of 1, 2 , 3 and 4 piece balls and more.
  • Will a “soft feel” ball help your game by getting more spin on the green.
  • You practice on the range with a cheap one piece range ball and then play with a good expensive branded golf ball.
  • Will the time and money spent improving the golf ball really help your golf game?
  • A golf ball that costs a lot of money must be good for my game!! really think so!
  • Is it REALLY necessary for you to compare golf balls to enjoy your game.

Want to save money and still enjoy your game?

  • X-outs are new balls. They may have little cosmetic blemishes or only factory over-runs. A new X-out ball with a logo will probably be the best ball to buy.
  • Water balls. Good value for money but you may lose distance if they become waterlogged
  • Caddie balls are cheap. You should compare golf balls like this? You will always find a few branded balls in good condition from a bag of used balls purchased from caddies and others at the course.
  • The marketing of second hand golf balls is good business, guess why? Many more golfers these days purchase good used golf balls to effect cost savings.

Golf Ball Manufacturers will obviously not agree that weekend golfers should not compare golf balls. They obviously want you to buy the latest and most expensive ball out there. We have to thank those club golfers who will only play with the top brand of the day, lose them on the first fairway and we get to find those them in the bag of balls we bought on the course.
