Simple Golf Tips For Driving That Every Golfer Can Benefit From

Is there anything more enjoyable in the game of golf than splitting the fairway with a beautiful drive? At one time or another though, everyone has gone off in search of tips for driving. There is no shortage of golf tips for driving the ball farther and straighter. But which ones are the best?

Driving is definitely the one aspect of the golf game that the average player practices the most. Who doesn’t like to see that little white ball flying off into space? Of course many golfers know that a lot of the time they spend practicing with their driver should really be spent on their short game. After all you hit your driver maybe ten times a round while you take probably 30-40 putts and many other shots not far from the green.

So in the interest of shaving the most strokes off possible we will dedicate the rest of this article to…tips on chipping ok? No? You’re sure?

Ok then, so what usually happens when people go to a practice range and hit one drive after another?

You may hit a nice drive, you’re quite happy with it so you take a moment, then tee up another ball and repeat. It is also possible that you hit a nice drive and then quickly tee-up another ball a try to hit it a little farther.

Of course you may hit a bad drive too. When this happens you may just shrug it off, stick to your routine and just try again. Alternatively the poor shot may concern you so you start questioning your stance or grip or any other number of things. Or possibly you just get mad, grip the club a little tighter and swing a little harder.

While there are certainly many golf swing tips that can be useful in a given situation probably the thing that hurts most drives is lack of tempo.

The best advice when it comes to getting the results you want with your driver is to swing with a nice smooth tempo. You can achieve the fastest swing speed at impact by gradually building up speed in your downswing not by trying to swing as fast as possible the moment you begin your downswing. The fact is that the majority of golfers achieve their maximum swing speed before reaching the ball and the golf club is actually decelerating as it approaches the ball.

A great swing tip for driving is to actually swing the grip-end of the club by gripping down by the club head. You will find that when you do this you will hear a whooshing sound that gets louder the faster you swing the club. The key is to pay attention to where in the swing this occurs. More than likely you will notice your swing speed tops out before the club would reach the ball. Practice this until the whoosh is the loudest at the impact position or even a foot or so past.

There is another element of tempo and that is your rate of play. When you launch one drive after another on the driving range, going faster and faster, you will find that it is very difficult not to also rush your actual golf swings. The next time you are at the driving range take a look around you. The better golfers will very likely seem to be taking their time while the majority of people will be racing to get through their buckets as fast as possible!
