Watching Golf Tournament Live (Part 2): How To Prepare For Your First Ever Live Golf Game

Is watching a professional live golf game a much better option for you? For those beginner golf players who were able to read the first part of this article series, you may be having the impression that it is a lot better to watch the game at home and take pleasure in the advantages of better comfort with golf commentators letting you understand what’s going on minute-by-minute. However, there are always two sides of a coin, and no matter how you try to deny it, there is no other greater feeling than by watching the game as it unfolds!

What You Need To Do First

Once you have finally decided to go attend your very first PGA tour, you are in for a real treat. This will really help you learn to play golf Perhaps, it will be better if you start off with a smaller-sized tournament, one that is being held near your house, with about 3,000 to 5,000 fans attending.

The first thing you need to make sure of is to secure a place to park. Several tournament organizers do not provide parking services since there are suhttle buses to take you and from the course.

Once you have already established your parking set up, the next thing you have to do is to decide which days you would like to attend. Most tournaments will go for about a week and will have some practice days thrown in between.

You can buy tickets to watch for the whole week’s event but you can opt for paying in every day of competition. If money is not an issue to you and you have the luxury of time to spare, check out a full week ticket so that you can enjoy watching your favorite professional golfers do some practice in between games.

Tip: It will be good if you check out a Pro- Am Tournament. These are unofficial competitions with a very friendly ambiance and normally take place on Wednesday (the day before the actual tournament begins). Professional golfers fight with amateurs to play the game and this type of match-up is just for fun and friendship’s sake.

Preparation & Arrival

Now that you have already established your transportation and parking situation for your live golf tournament experience, as well as getting to know which days you are to attend and your ticket purchase, you have now to ensure that you are prepared with the fundamentals.

Get an Update of the weather report: Remember, although you will not be playing golf, most of the time, you will be walking up and down the golf course. Try checking out the weather and prepare yourself for what is to come. Be prepared with rain gear if required, as well as the right kind of clothing for hot or cold weather, etc.

Invest in a comfortable carry bag or backpack:  A carry bag is perfect so that you can bring along with you drinks and snacks. Carry with you plenty of water all the time. Most golf games are often played in a good weather with the heat of the sun spread out through the game. You simply cannot enjoy a full day of watching professional golfers play when you are feeling uncomfortable. Drink water always, bring healthy snacks too, dress well for the weather, and of course, enjoy the game.

When you are at the golf course it is wise to go to the practice fairway. Here you will find golf coaches instructing the tour players. It is different to beginner golf instruction however it is very educational to watch tour players get coached and see how they interact with the golf coach. This is another benefit to seeing a live golf tournament.
